The Rotary Club of Banani was initiated by Rtn. Sk. Mawla Baksha, Adv. Shah Khasruzzaman, and Md. Ershad Ali—members of the Rotary Club of Dhaka North East. The first organizing meeting was held on September 26, 1997 at the chamber of Adv. Shah Khasruzzaman in Purana Paltan, Dhaka. Rtn. PP Engr. Ataur Rahman Choudhury and Rtn. President Mohammad A. Hafiz also played an active role in its formation.
